Where M&E and building firms find public sector tenders now

Since 24 February 2025, new public sector work in England has been published in one place, Find a Tender. Check it every week, and have your paperwork ready before the right one appears.

Updated MOJO.ME

In short

  • New procurements go on Find a Tender under the Procurement Act 2023.
  • Councils and NHS trusts must publish advertised contracts from £30,000, and central government from £12,000.
  • Frameworks and dynamic markets hold the repeat work. Get on them when they open.

Where the work is published

  • Find a Tender carries every new procurement since 24 February 2025.
  • Contracts Finder still holds procurements started under the old rules, until they run out.
  • Council and housing association portals are usually where the documents and the bids sit.
  • Main contractor inboxes bring invitations to price M&E packages, and those are the easiest to miss.

The numbers that matter

  • Works contracts follow the Act’s full rules from £5,193,000 including VAT, for procurements started from 1 January 2026.
  • Below that, a council or NHS trust must still publish a notice from £30,000, and central government from £12,000.
  • Public contracts carry 30-day payment terms, and those terms flow down to subcontracts.

Be ready before it lands

  • Register the firm on the central digital platform and keep the share code to hand.
  • Keep Constructionline, CHAS or SafeContractor and any ISO certificates current, with the renewal dates in the diary.
  • Join the frameworks and dynamic markets that fit your trade and region.
  • Keep a bid library ready: project sheets, photos, method statements and CVs.

You run the jobs. We run this.

  • Every portal, framework and inbox checked first thing each morning
  • A short note on the tenders that fit, with the value and the deadline
  • The first draft written from your past bids
  • Deadlines chased until the bid is in

Written for M&E contractors, electricians, heating engineers, air conditioning firms and construction companies.

Questions owners ask.

Do I need an account to see tenders on Find a Tender?

No, anyone can search. You sign in with a GOV.UK One Login to save searches and get alerts, and register your firm on the platform to bid.

Is Contracts Finder still worth checking?

For now, yes. It holds procurements started under the old rules before 24 February 2025. Everything newer is on Find a Tender.

Are public contracts only for big firms?

No. Councils and NHS trusts must publish advertised contracts from £30,000, and buyers have to consider the barriers smaller firms face.
